How 12 months of repeated Reddit and article placement campaigns for a fashion brand produced 700K+ discussion views, 50+ Google rankings for high-intent keywords, and consistent ChatGPT citations.
The client is a well-known fashion brand selling designer-look accessories and apparel at accessible prices, with a customer base that skews heavily toward style-led discovery rather than brand loyalty.
Fashion is one of the most heavily researched categories online. Shoppers rarely search for a brand by name. They search for a style, a use case, or a price point: trending frames, capsule wardrobe pieces, best value designer styles, brand reviews. Increasingly they ask ChatGPT, Claude, and Google AI Overviews the same questions. The brand had strong product and strong paid performance, but almost no presence in the community threads and editorial round-ups that both Google and AI engines lean on when producing recommendations. The goal was breadth: not one keyword, but visibility across the entire consideration set.
We built a repeating, always-on program rather than a single burst of activity. Every campaign wave paired two channels: Reddit discussions that capture authentic peer recommendations, and AI-SEO optimized article placements on high authority publishers such as Yahoo Finance and Business Insider. Reddit supplies the trust signal, publishers supply the authority signal, and AI engines cite both.
Each wave targeted a fresh cluster of high-intent keywords mapped to a product line: budget designer styles, women's fashion accessories, trending frames, capsule wardrobe pieces, and branded review terms. Because waves ran back to back from September 2025 onward, earlier content kept accumulating engagement and rankings while new content entered the index, compounding the brand's footprint month after month.
Between September 2025 and August 2026 we published 50 Reddit discussions across fashion, style, and lifestyle communities including r/womensfashion, r/mensfashionadvice, r/malefashionadvice, r/fashionadvice, r/capsulewardrobe, r/style, and r/EDC. Each thread was written as a genuine shopping question and positioned the brand inside authentic recommendation threads rather than promotional posts.
Alongside them, 15 AI-SEO optimized articles were placed with high authority publishers, syndicated across Yahoo Finance, Business Insider, and partner networks. Titles were built around the same keyword clusters: trending fashion accessories, best value designer styles, women's fashion essentials, capsule wardrobe staples, and a branded product review. Combined, the placements reached a potential audience of more than 940 million readers and generated 33,000+ article views and 28,000+ Google and AI engine hits.
The Reddit programme produced 700,000+ combined views and 1,500+ comments. The strongest single threads covered celebrity styling, budget designer looks, capsule wardrobe questions, and brand reviews, with top threads reaching 69,000, 25,000, 21,000, 20,000, and 18,000 views. Engagement kept accruing long after publication, with tens of thousands of new views arriving each month against threads published seasons earlier.
On search, campaign content ranked for more than 50 high-intent keywords including the six core clusters that drove the most purchase-ready traffic: budget designer styles, women's fashion accessories, trending frames, brand review, and related style queries. Those are the exact phrases shoppers use in the final week before buying, and the brand now occupies the results they trust most: a Reddit thread or an independent publisher round-up rather than an ad.
On AI, ChatGPT cited campaign discussions and articles when answering prompts including "affordable designer sunglasses," "best oval sunglasses," "trendy womens sunglasses," "designer look sunglasses under $100," and "best prescription sunglasses women," and Google AI Overviews pulled the same content into recommendations for budget designer eyewear and branded review searches. In several responses multiple campaign sources were cited together, producing a detailed, positive summary of the brand's style, comfort, options, and value.
On the balance sheet of attention, the branded review article ranked and was cited for consideration-stage searches, giving prospective customers a credible third-party read at the moment of decision, and delivering 1,300+ tracked clickthroughs from placements over the programme.
Ahrefs tracking across Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini shows the compounding effect clearly. Mentions and estimated impressions moved slowly through the first two waves, then accelerated sharply from spring 2026 as the earlier content matured into a citable body of evidence. By July 2026 estimated AI impressions had reached 4.5 million a month, substantially ahead of the tracked competitive set, and monthly AI mentions had grown from roughly 2,000 to more than 15,000.
Share of voice tells the competitive story. Measured against the major fashion names tracked in the category, the brand's share of AI-generated recommendations rose from roughly 11% before the programme to 34% by July 2026, finishing as the clear leader in both Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. In a category dominated by established names with far larger budgets, the brand is now the one AI engines reach for first when a shopper asks what to buy.
Reddit leads the citation landscape for this category by a wide margin, followed by reference sites, fashion publishers, and competitor retail domains. The programme's two channels sit at the top of the list AI engines consult, which is precisely why breadth of coverage translated so directly into recommendation share.
